Fire Prevention

Inroducing the next generation of Fire Proof Paint to the market. Also known as thermofoaming paint or Intumescent Paint, ZENOVA FP is a fire-resistant water-based paint that prevents the ignition and spread of fire.

As a result of being exposed to heat, the intumescent paint swells and creates a light char foam, increasing in volume and decreasing in density. The heat transfer from the flames to the substrate is thereby greatly diminished. Treated materials become isolated from elements that maintain fire combustion since the paint turns into an insulating protective membrane.

This demonstration shows the protective charring effect of ZENOVA FP Fire Protection Paint on timber. 2 coats of Zenova FP were applied to the timber. A blow torch was ignited and placed a few inches away, applying concentrated direct intense heat/flame to one spot. A black protective char coating forms very quickly, protecting the substrate from heat. The char absorbs the majority of the heat and flame and protects the substrate from being affected by the intense heat of the torch.
For the demonstration, two identical kitchens were constructed at Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service’s training centre in West Moors, Dorset. The walls and ceiling of the first kitchen were painted with a standard emulsion paint, whilst Zenova FP fire protection paint was used to paint the walls and ceiling of the second. Thermocouples were also installed throughout both kitchens by Professor Claire M. Belcher and her team from the wildFIRE Lab, Exeter University, to record and analyse the flame spread, burn severity and damage in each test kitchen setup.

ZENOVA CS – Ceiling Fire Suppression

Smoke detectors can warn occupants if they hear them, but they do not assist in escaping a burning structure. And if fire extinguishers can’t be found or occupants don’t know how to use them, they’re useless.

Zenova CS blends the best features of both detectors and extinguishers while avoiding the drawbacks of each. It senses heat rather than smoke, resulting in less false alarms and it’s an automatic system that doesn’t require a battery or a person to operate.

With abundant proof that today’s fires burn faster than they did 20 years ago, every second counts.
